SIVA Finals: March 28th, 2009

Las Vegas Open

The Aggies recently attended the Las Vegas Open on March 20-21.

Day 1 put the Ags in a 3 team pool with #1 Ranked Fresno State and UC Irvine. After a tough first match against Fresno State, the team upset UC Irvine to play in a crossover match against UC Santa Clara. Again, the Aggies upset another team. Finally, they had a challenge match for a spot in the Gold Bracket. A&M Played Stanford and took them to 3 games, but couldn't pull out a win. Stanford advanced to beat UW Oshkosh and place 2nd overall in the tournament.

Valentine's Classic Results

Congratulations to NEXT for winning the Valentine's Classic.

1st Team

First team played up and down for the day, losing a 24-19 lead in the first match that would put them into a tiebreaker which they would go on to lose, thus eliminating playoff chances. There were strong performances by everyone on the team, but everyone hit some slumps throughout the day. The Aggies look to bounce back strong from the disappointing finish with a strong SIVA Crossover performance next Saturday.

UT Tournament Results

The tournament in Austin last weekend was somewhat of a disappointment for the Aggies, although there were strong moments for both teams. Both the first and second team were short on personnel. On the first team, OH Jason Fellman suffered an injury in the 2nd set against Crackers and Rice, and Opposite Mason Duhon was unable to play in the first match. On the second team, OH Brett Wolfe and MB Justin Holzworth were unable to attend. In spite of this, TAMU2 split sets with Texas1
